Waves: 1 - 2.5 feet
Wind: Perfect North winds
Clean West bowls with light North winds and all is right with the world.
Same as yesterday - see below.
Is anyone else going crazy besides me?

Cesar sent me this cool picture of Hanapepe loop near Portlock. circa 1960
Ahhh! the good old days.
Courts is serving up lots of Sloppy Joes and Mushburgers this morning - go get um!
Waves: Looked like 1 foot in the dark
Wind: STRONG Onshore
I knew it was Kona winds but I just had to go down to the beach first. Somehow going straight to work on the first working day of the year doesn't seem right. I picked up my mother and brought her down for her morning walk. Only had Doug and Ryan hoping for a miracle. I left for work and here I am at 6:40am.
The news said it will be the same tomorrow with a return of the Trades on Wednesday. Bummer.
Work sucks - we need surf!
Happy New Year !!!!
I got down to the beach and found only Darek waiting on the wall. Where was everyone? We paddled out to some small glassy west bowls. Later Leighton, Sylvia, Mark and Sid joined us. It was a very mellow start to the new year. Always feels good to be in the ocean on the first day of the year.
Click to play - I rarely get a shot of Darek because he usually surfs in the dark so I wanted to post this clip.
Question: Do you know why Darek likes to surf in the DARK?
Answer: It's in his name DAREK - E = DARK.

Got Resolutions?
I got three.
1) Be a better husband and father
2) Continue to be green (recycle and re-use)
3) Eat heathly Surf everyday before work
What's yours?

December Movie
We're going to my sister Cat's house tomorrow and I'm making Kalbi. I cut the meat and am marinating in my secret sauce, check it out.
Grandma and Grandpa treated us to dinner at Outback Steakhouse, our New Years dinner.
Dora wanted a Bloomin' Onion.
Tonight's onion was very crispy and not too greasy.
Dawn's usual the Mac-n-Cheese.
Dora selected the Bacon Cheese Burger.
Two 'tails' for me - there goes my cholesterol - yikes!
After dinner it's fireworks time - I went to Longs today after work everything was 50% off!!!!
I took this Moonlight shot yesterday morning.
Waves: 1 - 2 feet
Wind: Light offshore in the dark, then onshore when the sun started to rise
Unbelievable - the wind was perfect as we waited for the sunrise. As soon as we started to hit the water, the wind switched to straight onshore. But being the last day of the year - 'you gotta go'. Actually had a few decent rides with some head high waves, just a little lumpy.

I wanted to do this for a while but never found someone who could print in a small quantity, however this year I finally made some Courts T-shirts. Congratulations if you were fortunate to get on the rare, limited edition, exclusive Courts Dawn Patrol T-shirts.
If you didn't get one read below...

Happy New Year's Eve to all !!!!!!!
Have lots of fun but please be safe - you can't surf if you get hurt.
We'll be having dinner at Outback Steakhouse tonight (can you say Double Lobster Tails?) and playing some fireworks tonight. Tomorrow is Lunch at my sister's house.
I probably won't surf tomorrow so can someone catch a waves for me - thanks!
Waves: 1 - 2 feet
Wind: 10 mph Onshore
'Oh Sh*t' was the phrase many of us said as we stepped out of our cars. Surf was crap. What happened to the glassy conditions we had yesterday?
Hat's off to Brandon who was the only regular to brave the wild surf.
Might be the same tomorrow - stay home and go pound some mochi.
Waves: 1 - 2 feet
Wind: Glassy
Mostly 1 foot with a few rare 2 footers. Very crowded for the amount of waves we had - lot of second shift surfers sneaking out early to beat the onshore winds.
Surf going down tomorrow - stay home and save your gas money and go buy fireworks.
Waves: 1 - 2 feet
Wind: Light and glassy
Santa's still giving us some waves to ride - fun small waves.
