Waves: 1 - 1.5 feet
Wind: Perfect light offshore
Small but fun waves in perfect conditions - just a beautiful morning. Have a great day!
Waves: 1 - 2 feet
Wind: Light offshores
Sad to say the swell is gone - we were all hoping for more of the waves we had yesterday but the waves dropped big time.

Today is Dora's birthday - Dora's dining choice is Outback Steakhouse tonight!
Later this month we'll be staying at the Embassy Suites Waikiki as part of her birthday present.
This morning we said Aloha to Reid Hamada and celebrated life in the way Reid knew best - Surfing!
We surfed before the beach ceremony and after and the waves were good - 1 - 3 feet and Nice.
After the early surf session we lined up our boards on the beach.
Here's some of the original HLSA (Honolulu Longboard Surfing Association) crew.
The family put together an awesome display of Reid's life.
We stand in front of our boards during the ceremony.
China is 'the man' at organizing events of all kinds.
Everyone paddles out lead by China. Reid's family and non-surfers take the catamaran.
The family scatters Reid's ashes and we rejoice. Many of us felt Reid's presence today - from the seabird who stopped right in the middle of the circle, to the big waves rolling under us just when we were scattering his ashes. We knew he was happy.
Back on shore we continued to celebrate in another way Reid enjoyed.
Chillin' and grillin'
Chicken and shrimp
Teriyaki, smoked meat, steak, sausage, turkey leg - so much good food - Reid would have loved it.
Aloha Reid - you're a good friend and good man - we'll all miss you!!!
Waves: 1 - 3 feet
Wind: Medium offshores
Overall a pretty good morning, more waves and slightly bigger than yesterday. Excellent for this time of the year.
Waves: 1 - 3 feet
Wind: Straight Offshore
The waves did come up but the sets were very inconsistent and fat with the high tide, it will probably get good mid-day when the tide goes down. The early morning has the super-high tide at 2.5 feet - that's as high as it gets.

My web surfing from home has been really slow lately. I exchanged my old modem for a newer model yesterday and what a difference - it's fast!!! If you're experiencing slow internet speeds - call Oceanic for a free upgrade.
Last Friday we celebrated Dora's father's birthday at one of our favorite restaurants - Le Bistro in Niu Valley.
For starters I chose the Kahuku Corn Salad - Fresh greens and crunchy corn in a tangy vinaigrette served with pomme frites (potato chips). One of my favorites.
Everyone else went with the Mixed Baby Greens with Haula Tomatoes.
Le Bistro is famous for this dish - Slow and Low Braised Short Ribs. Never fails Grandpa always orders this.
Dora chose the Beef Quartet or Beef Four Ways - Short Ribs, Filet Mignon, Rib eye and a Kobe Beef Burger.
I wanted to be 'healthy' so I chose the Salmon. Unbelievable - delicately crisp skin on top and super tender inside.
Here's my Salmon 'after'. Somehow they didn't believe me when I said I didn't like it.
Happy Birthday Grandpa!!!
We were all so full we shared this Spumoni Ice Cream Pie for dessert.
Waves: 1 - 2 feet
Wind: Side offshore
The waves came up a little but so did the wind. Yesterday was more fun to me. The forecast says: 'A small south swell is possible Thursday through the weekend.' but I wouldn't count on it. Please stay home tomorrow - I'll let you know if it's good.
Thanks to camera-man Brandon for taking some vids!
Waves: 1 - 2 feet
Wind: Perfect light offshores
Another small, fun and uncrowded day with perfect conditions.
Waves: 1 - 2 feet

Small but fun this wonderful Monday morning.

Here's the latest movie...
This year we spent Halloween doing 'real' Trick-o-Treating door to door style not like last year where we went Kahala Mall. We went to Dawn's friends house and we all went out in a pack to score some Treats! Dawn said this was her best Halloween ever!
Dawn and her best friend 'Mulan'.
Ready to 'hit the road'!
Arrgh me hardies!
Trick or Treat!
One of the dads was the 'Silver Man' just like in Waikiki!
Plenty of cool costumes around the neighborhood.
Taking a break.
Trick or treating is hard work - kids had candy, adults had Peruvian rice (made with garlic, shrimp and cilantro). This was awesome!!!
The rice was topped with this killer citrus-salsa made with pepper paste, lime juice and green onions. My mouth is watering looking at the picture.
Cooling off with popsicles!
besides the seabird (hovering above Arden) and the large swells rolling in, did you also notice the "rainbow halo" around... read more
